Breaking Dawn DVD Secrets Revealed

When it comes to driving a speedboat, Robert Pattinson is not nearly as suave as vampire Edward Cullen. And you might think Kristen Stewart is no dummy, but she is, at least in some scenes.That’s just some of what we learned from the extras on the “Twilight: Breaking Dawn — Part 1” DVD, coming out Saturday:

• “I went for a lesson and crashed the practice boat,” Pattinson admits, sheepishly, when explaining his prep for his character’s honeymoon jaunt with his bride. “And then I went to Brazil and crashed the Brazilian boat, too. I am definitely not nautical.”

• As a sickly, pregnant Bella, Stewart had to appear to drop from 110 pounds to about 70 pounds. Filmmakers used a combination of digital effects, prosthetic appliances, makeup, lighting and a horribly emaciated, life-size and lifelike doll. “I’ve always wanted to hang out with myself,” Stewart says of her doppelganger.

• Author Stephenie Meyer always envisioned that Bella’s wedding dress would be designed by the likes of Carolina Herrera, so that’s who was hired to help create the lacy, 1920s-inspired gown for the film. “I wanted the dress to be something really special,” says Meyer, who was also one of the film’s producers. “Not something you’re going to see every day. Not something you’re going to pick out at a store somewhere.”

 •Say what you will about the talking-wolf scenes — they were even funnier for the actors. Jackson Rathbone, who plays vampire Jasper, explains that he had to wrestle giant beanbags to simulate the CGI critters on the attack. 

“The hardest part about shooting these scenes,” he says, “is not laughing the entire time.”The DVD extras include a six-part making-of documentary, a glimpse into “Jacob’s Destiny” for fans on that team, a director commentary and a — sorry to say — cheesy “wedding video.” The film recently surpassed the $700 million mark at the worldwide box office. “Breaking Dawn — Part 2,” the fifth and final installment, is set to open Nov. 16.

- 1st thing Bill says is he hopes the cut scene of the Volturi from the beginning "will make it to a longer cut years down the line" YEARS?!

- Bill: "Kristen...I don't know if everyone knows this...she's the ultimate Twi-hard."

- Bill Condon is pretty much fangirling over Kristen during this entire commentary...

- re: last week of shooting & filming Jacob/Bella dance "These 3 actors knew this was the last time they would be playing these parts ever, and they were very aware of it and Kristen's not overtly sentimental but I think there were a lot of tears on all sides"

- Bill Condon: "I could spend this entire commentary gushing about these actors & I'll try not to"


- Did we know that Lizzy Pattinson "sings" in the music as B/E drive away from Forks for their honeymoon? I don't think I did.

"Kristen...she's growing up so fast...I think she looks especially beautiful in this chunk of the movie." (honeymoon)

- Re: honeymoon sex "I think people know there was an earlier more explicit version of this..it wasn't that much different but there was more a sense probably that they were having sex"

- "That thrust that he did just as we fade out...we had a little more of that, so we sort of pulled back on that"

- "They were great sports about it & obviously very comfortable w/ each other..I can't imagine this without their comfort level w/ each other"

- Re: Rob & Bella black lingerie "His reaction was just completely him responding in the moment...I love it, its just great to see him smile"

- Theme that opens the movie is a snippet of Renesmee's Lullaby, and they also use a bit of it on the beach when Jacob talks about imprinting.

- They shot the scene from the book of Bella and Edward acknowledging that they've figured out a way to have sex without destroying the house or injuring Bella and Bella tossing around the idea of staying human a little longer. Bill really liked it but felt it didn't go anywhere dramatically. 

- Bill talking about Kristen cooking for him in Baton Rouge ("a great cook...an amazing cook") - re: their future - Bill can see Kristen as a director, Rob as a writer & Taylor as a producer and studio head. 

  - re: Bella examining her tummy in the mirror "We debated if Kristen needed a little appliance, but she just stuck her belly out a little bit" 

  - They also originally shot Peter and Ashley on the phone with Bella but decided they didn't want to make the cut away from Bella to show them 

  - #ThePowerOfTwilight - It was apparently almost impossible to get a visa for the Brazilian actress playing Kaure so she could go to Baton Rouge to finish her scenes, and it took "someone calling someone who knew someone in the Obama White House and really getting some strings pulled"  

- They cut the Jacob throwing the dog bowl at Rosalie scene because it didn't feel right to have comic relief at that moment.

- re: Edward hearing the baby scene & Rob/babies (I die!) "You look at Rob here, you get a little hint of what you'll see a lot of in the 2nd film. He is unbelievably tender with babies...with children...not just babies...he was with Mackenzie too. There's something that changes about him when he's with children. He's just so sweet and caring and I think you really get a little glimpse of that here."

- Shooting the birth scene is one of the most memorable nights Bill has ever had on a movie set. 

- re: birth/trying to revive Bella - "You have this intensity from Rob and Taylor...because Kristen made it so real, they're imagining what it would be like to lose Kristen...both of them talked about that."

Latest Updates on "Breaking Dawn" DVD: More Info on Spain's DVD & Blu-Ray

Aurum has released more information on the DVD and Blu-ray editions of Breaking Dawn – Part 1 for Spain. There will be a special edition metallic box, and the normal edition with plastic box. The DVD will have Bill Condon’s audio-commentary, while the Blu-ray edition will feature four hours of extras!

Six documentaries with the cast, Bill Condon, Wyck Godfrey Stephenie Meyer, and Carolina Herrena will be featured:

- A new beginning.

- The wedding.

- The honeymoon.

- The wolfpack.

- The pregnancy.

- The birth.

Plus, four music videos:

New "Breaking Dawn" DVD Release Date for Germany: March 29th, 2012

While the release date in the US was moved forward to February 11th, the release date in Germany, Austria & Switzerland was still April 30th, so more than 2 months later.

It is now reported that the release date in those countries has been moved forward to March 29th, 2012 - so one month earlier than usually planned!

'Breaking Dawn Part 1' DVD Set To Come Out on February 11th

Thanks to an entertainment distributor, today we’re learning more details about The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1′s DVD/Blu-ray release.

It will be hitting store shelves earlier than thought, and special Valentine’s Day-packaging is in the works.

Saturday, February 11th, 2012 is the release date. Word is that the official announcement will be coming January 3rd.
