Walter Salles and Alice Braga Talk About Kristen

image host

Walter Salles and Alice Braga talk about Kristen at the OTR PressCon in Brazil

iG Walter Salles praises again Kristen Stewart - "The director praised the "loyalty" of Stewart with the project even after the "boom" of "Twilight" and its guarantees of a fortune (which was not the case with "The Road"), and already gave a hint of her future works. "She told me what she wants to do and are upstream movies (against the grain; counterculture). Box Office success is not a concern for her."by Marco Tomazzoni

UOL Alice Braga on Kristen Stewart "Alice confirmed that Walter "discovered" Kristen Stewart before "Twilight" and hoped that people no longer associate her to the teen universe. "She's an complete actress since childhood and shows beyond the Girl from 'Twilight.'. I hope people stop to associate her to this teen idol and start to see her as a great actress of her generation." by Estefani Medeiros

Terra Alice Braga praises Kristen Stewart again - "The actress also praised the work of Kristen Stewart, who plays the young Marylou in the film and is considered a somewhat controversial choice of Walter, due to be better known since the Twilight movies. "Kristen is a great actress of this generation, goes far beyond Twilight. The lack of shame to make her sex scenes are brilliant," she said"

Sam Spruell, Evan Daugherty and Eddie Marson Mention Kristen

imagebam.com imagebam.com
Sam Spruell and Evan Daugherty

Digital Spy Sam Spruell (the evil Finn in SWATH) was asked by Digital Spy what Theron and Stewart were like to work with, Spruell replied: "Charlize is an absolute powerhouse. Kristen is a quieter soul, but both are great to work with.

"I don't think I'd be able to do [a franchise] at her age. It must be quite a burden - amazing, but it might stop you from being young. At 21 we were just kicking around, being stupid, but she has to be responsible for quite a lot. It must weigh down her a lot."

He continued: "She is a very cool cat, though. She's very chilled... I think she feels grateful for those films because they catapulted her career into the stratosphere. I think any actor would be grateful for that. I think there is a burden that comes with being that famous, of course. I'm sure she feels vulnerable at times, but overall, she's incredibly grateful."

Dallas News  SWATH writer, Evan Daugherty wrote his first draft in 2003, when he was still a film student at New York University. He remembers seeing Kristen Stewart in Panic Room and thinking she would be perfect for the role — if only she weren’t too young. Now he believes Stewart, who will do one last turn in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2 in November, will dazzle audiences who have forgotten her feisty, pre-vampire life.

Eddie Marsan talks Kristen
The Telegraph I ask him if it felt like a metaphor for the Hollywood industry as a whole, this set of great actors (that also includes Toby Jones and This is England’s Johnny Harris) playing the dwarves, with the beautiful people playing the leads.

“Not really, not with any feeling of resentment,” he says. “First of all, Charlize [Theron, who plays the Queen with a fear of growing old] is much more than just beautiful, she’s a very accomplished actress, and she’s terrifying in the film. Kristen’s a very lovely girl, and she’s very, very conscientious. She’s one of the boys. Those separate levels disappear when you’re working together.

“I understand your metaphor but it’s just the way the business is. Making a film is like a ghost train ride. The audience sits on the train with the protagonist, and that character becomes quite neutral in a way, they almost disappear, because the story’s being seen through their eyes. My career is playing the guys who go boo, that’s what I do.” via   fiercebitchstew

Jules Stewart talks K-11, OTR and Cannes

imagebam.com

Q: Talking about the cast, your son Cameron did his first onscreen performance. Does he have new projects going on ? No because he is actually a grip. I wrote that character, Sledgehammer, with him in my mind and he agreed to actually do it. He is very shy and sweet and I'm really proud of him, he did a great job.

Q: And your daughter Kristen also plays a micro-cameo in the movie…
JS: Yes, she is the secretary on the telephone. She loves the film and wanted to be a part of it. She was going to be Butterfly at first. Kristen attached herself to that role years ago but the schedule didn’t work. There was Snow White and the Huntsman and I have to push her up to do this big movie.

Q:  Let’s talk about Cannes. How is the festival going for you?
JS: We are having a wonderful time here, it couldn’t be better. We already got offers for K-11, the movie has been very well received there.

Q:  How long are you staying?
JS: Until May 26th. I’m here for the whole festival. My daughter Kristen is coming on the 22nd for her movie ON THE ROAD so I’ll be here to support her. I’m really proud of her.

Q: Red carpet time then?
JS:  I don't know yet, but I will definitely be on the background, applauding her.

Cannes Film Director Mention Rob & Kristen

From M Magazine:

They ask Thierry if they “have the first draft of the new generation of young actors” and he replies “it’s hard to say, the competition is tough. You have to make the right choices & meet the right people. Pattinson & Stewart had the chance of rising from Twilight unlike other young actors that are as talented as they are. There are in Hollywood, young actors waiting in the shadow. The market is ruthless. But as for Pattinson& Stewart, they’re showing a remarkable maturity when it comes to their careers. And they’re wonderful in both movies.”

The article talks about Leo Dicaprio then: He managed to (almost) make people forget about Jack from Titanic. going from teenager’s walls to movie-goers shelves. Will the Twilight actors be able to finance movies that are both challenging and expensive due to their names? “It’s going on to depend on the success of their first steps in the ‘grown up’ cinema and on the power they will exerce on the screenwriter producers.” continues Thierry Frémaux. “Cannes 2012 is going to show that there is a movement to go back to the “big” American Auteur cinema. They can take advantage of it, or not. All of this is so fragile.

Rupert Sanders Talks Kristen in the Herald Sun (Australia)

imagebam.com

The Herald Sun has an new article up on their site. Kristen’s quotes are from previous interviews, but Rupert Sanders did have some lovely things to say about Miss Stewart:
Stewart was always first choice for the lead, Sanders says.
Obviously everyone knew about Kristen. She was someone we wanted to meet,” Sanders says, standing outside one of his 30 astounding sets.
We started, as you do in these things, looking around. (The film’s producer) Joe (Roth) had just made Alice in Wonderland, where he had found a new actress (Mia Wasikowska) and we felt there was something very innocent and pure about finding someone with no other roles that you associate them with. But when we went to meet Kristen it was a very simple, done deal.Yes, you are the one.” …..
Rupert continued by discussing the project as a whole.
Sixty per cent was shot in real locations, including a deserted Welsh beach and some woodland in London’s Queen’s Park.
The sets, including the evil queen’s milk bath and a snow-covered woodland, are breathtakingly real.
“There’s quite a lot you’re nervous about when you start a project of this scale,” Sanders admits. “I wanted to create a world where this all felt tangible and it didn’t feel like fantasy but felt real.”
He adds that his mantra throughout the project was to make a film “that means something” and is true to the original, seven-page story. “People think Snow White is Disney,” Sanders says. “Disney really made the Grimm’s fairy tale very family orientated. But it is a very dark story about so many deeper issues that were never in the Disney version. It’s like a biblical tale almost, with a lot of messages and hidden meanings. It’s a story that is as resonant today as it was when it was first recorded.”

Sam Claflin mentions SWATH, Kristen & Rob in a new interview with Elle UK (June issue)

You worked closely with Kristen Stewart on Snow White...How was it to be so near that level of fame?
Sam: Awkward! [Laughs] I know it's quite hard for her to have a normal life, to go to the shops in the afternoon, and I'm blessed that at the moment I still live an absolutely regular life. get to stay mysterious.

Who do you compare yourself to?
Sam: I can't help but compare myself to Eddie Redmayne. I was actually up for My Week with Marilyn, but when I saw the script, I just knew he was right for it. My first ever job was with Eddie [in The Pillars of the Earth] and I've witnessed him grow as an actor - he looks so at home, it all seems to come very easily for him. He's friendly with Andrew Garfield and Robert Pattinson and he's the next one of their group to come through. When I go to LA, don't really have that group of friends who I can talk to and who are going through the same sort of things as me - it's quite tough.

Charlize Theron Talks about Kristen with Access Hollywood

Access Hollywood Charlize Theron and Kristen Stewart have become the best of friends since playing mortal enemies in the upcoming “Snow White and the Huntsman” – so much so, that Charlize says she’d do just about anything for the “Twilight Saga” star.

I really, I really, really love that girl. I love that girl, like, I would jump off a building for that girl,” Charlize, 36, told Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush at CinemaCon 2012 in Las Vegas when asked about Kristen. “She’s amazing, she’s amazing. She’s the real deal… [and] she gives really good back rubs.”

And the lovefest didn’t stop there! In addition to KStew’s apparent massage skills, Charlize admires the 22-year-old actress’ acting ability and dedication. “[Kristen] is the kind of actor that I like to be around because there’s nothing she’d really stop at in order to do the job,” Charlize explained. “She’s got a tremendous amount of talent and, you know, I think you can have talent, but if you don’t have tenacity and moxy… She’s bad ass.”   Read in full

MetroFrance via Google translate (...):

At a dinner, his fellow Mexican Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu tells him about a young actress who has caught the eye in Into the Wild, Sean Penn. Chris Hemsworth talks about working with Charlize and Kristen

This year, he’ll open two summer blockbusters, reprising the thunder god in Whedon’s The Avengers -- alongside a dizzying cast of costars (such as Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, and Chris Evans) -- and starring in a darkly gothic fairytale retelling, Snow White and the Huntsman. He drops a mention of being invited to a personal preview screening of the latter with his costars: “And Charlize and Kristen and I all could not believe how amazing it was.” He doesn’t mention the surnames, Theron and Stewart, because he doesn’t have to.

Rupert Sanders on Kristen and Charlize's SWATH Performances

"Kristen is a very driven, visceral, intuitive actress. From a director's point of view, it's great to get into her headspace," he explained. "We did a lot of work together on the script and character, and she really helped inform me how that character was feeling, which really helped my process getting the character onscreen. Kristen was doing a lot of her stunt work, she was riding horses, she was jumping from high precipices into freezing cold water, she was fighting dwarves — she's gung-ho.

Sanders said Stewart's co-star Charlize Theron was equally gung-ho with respect to the lengths she went to take her beauty into a dark and horrible place.

"[She] becomes fiendish," Sanders said. "She was willing to get in tubs of black oil, surrounded by dead ravens, and crawl her way out. For a director, what's great about these two actors is that they will go beyond what you ask of them, and I think it really shows in the performances they've given. They're both very unlike any performance I've seen either of them deliver."

"What I'm most proud of is that it's not a popcorn movie in that respect. It's big and it's epic and there's lots of battle sequences, but it really hits you," he said. "There's not a lot of weeping, but it's a very intense ride. You're really at the edge of people's boundaries. There are new ways of seeing action, which I'm excited about. It's a very modern take on a medieval film but doesn't feel like we're trying to do anything trendy or of the minute. It still feels practical."

Chris Hemsworth Talks About Working With Kristen

Could Snow White take down Thor?

Not necessarily, but Chris Hemsworth, 28, said Kristen Stewart, 22, has an open invitation to hang with the badass boys of Marvel’s The Avengers.

“Hell ya,” Chris told Celebuzz at The Avengers junket when we asked if Snow White and the Huntsman is really as badass as we are all expecting. But would she hold her own with the superheros?

“I think so,” smiled Hemsworth. “Why not? We need some more girls.”

In all seriousness, Chris was very genuine when praising SWATH and Stewart. “She’s very talented. It was great working with her,” he said, adding that Kristen is “awesome” at playing the fearless heroin.
